Safari Field guide Courses
GVI runs Safari Field Guide courses in South Africa ranging from 14 days to a full year.
No previous experience is necessary and training is very hands-on, starting with the absolute basics. The training camps are located in or near to established ‘big 5’ game reserves where students are immersed in the sounds, sights and smells of the bush. Typically, days are a balance between walks, drives and theory sessions/ lectures. Subject matter is varied and may include anything from animal tracks and signs to safe rifle handling, climatology to 4x4 driving techniques. Courses are fully supported by FGASA (Field Guides Association of South Africa) and qualification at various levels is possible.
