Description

This role gives the successful candidate the opportunity to join GVI's staff team. GVI are considered to be amongst the world leaders in volunteer travel, looking to send over 2,500 volunteers away in 2010 on critical conservation and community development projects in 40 countries. Assist the GVI Ambassador Programme Manager with tasks related to the program including but limited to researching event sites/dates, communication with active and pending Ambassadors and visiting local university and secondary campuses to inform communities about GVI programs.

Salary

Unpaid - Expedition incentive scheme for completion of 6 months at 3 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Interns will: make follow-up phone calls to Ambassadors and Candidates regarding applications, assist with on-site training days and events, communicate with institutions in the surrounding areas of the GVI Headquarters, assist with maintaining online communication tools such as Facebook, assist the Manager with tracking all Ambassador participation, budgeting, event-planning and other Administrative duties.

Qualifications Required

  • Confident telephone manner
  • Complete fluency in the English language
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Enthusiasm
  • Good knowledge and understanding of GVI’s projects, expeditions and courses
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office tools
  • Passion for international volunteering

Qualifications Desired

  • Applicants will preferably be recent volunteers, however all applications with related work experience will be considered.

Included

  • Timings flexible, but in general upon completion of 3 days per week for 6 months, a free 10 week GVI expedition followed by the possibility of full time employment.
