Train international volunteers to gain a TEFL qualification with the minimum of resources. Teach English to local adults and children in the community through free English classes for communication.

Responsibilities

  • Lead presentations about TEFL teaching methodology and techniques
  • Teach demo lessons
  • Assist with trainee lesson planning
  • Observe trainee lessons
  • Hold constructive feedback sessions for trainees
  • Helping to maintain a professional English teaching program in the community through assisting with student registration, evaluation, and upkeep of classrooms
  • Monitor and make improvements to curriculum, lesson plans, teaching resources and training library
  • Lead Friday village projects in rural schools
  • Provide support for graduates teaching in the local community

Qualifications Required

  • Applicants should have at least 3 years of TEFL teaching experience, preferably with adults
  • Applicants with experience as a TEFL trainer are encouraged to apply
  • Applicants with Thai language skills as well as experience living and teaching in Thailand are encouraged to apply
  • Thai Nationals are welcome to apply
  • Interest in community development and volunteering is beneficial

Qualifications Desired

  • TEFL qualification or equivalent

Conditions

The training base is located at GVI's base in Ao Luk, Thailand. Ao Luk is a small but rapidly developing town in which many communities are creating their own local tourist locations.

Included

  • Salary depends upon experience. Food on the training base is provided. GVI provides assistance obtaining visas and work permits.
